Current Activities

Liz Chilton is the National Observer Program Coordinator with the Office of Science and Technology's Assessment and Monitoring Division.

Liz started her career in fisheries as a North Pacific groundfish observer, which provided a solid foundation in fisheries sampling and management. After completing an M.S. in Fisheries Oceanography at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Liz worked as a research fish biologist with the Alaska Fisheries Science Center in Kodiak, AK for twelve years. Shifting her focus to fisheries dependent data in 2011, Liz worked with the North Pacific Observer Program as the field operations supervisor by providing support to observers deployed on commercial vessels and vessel operators participating in the partial coverage observer program in Alaska.
