Alaska Fisheries Science Center

The Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) is a research branch of NOAA Fisheries responsible for providing the scientific information and analysis necessary for the conservation, management, and utilization of the region's living marine resources.  Climate-related changes in the North Pacific region include the loss of sea ice, changing ocean temperatures, changing ocean chemistry and related changes in ocean productivity and diversity. AFSC is leading the way in cutting-edge research and monitoring to track and project the impacts of changing sea ice and other climate impacts on marine resources and resource-dependent communities in the region.
