Day 1 – Sept. 16, 2014 - Data Diagram Workshop

9:00 Welcome and Introduction (Mark Brady)


9:15   Data flow diagram Discussion

  • Presentation of data flow diagramming basics (Mark Brady)

  • The standard reference for data flow diagrams is from Structured Analysis and System Specification by Tom DeMarco.  Parts 1-4 being most relevant.

  • Presentation of value stream mapping as an alternative to DeMarco's method (FIS Quality Management PSG)

10:30   Presentation of example data flow diagrams from super-pilot OPR (Jeff Adams)


11:30   Lunch

 

12:30   Data flow diagram breakout session

At least one division's data flow diagrams will be presented at each work group.  The presenter will then describe issues and questions that arose during development.  The goal of the work group will be to help resolve any problems encountered and make suggestions.


14:30   Break

 

14:45   Summary and report out

Each work group will summarize their findings in the discussion and report to the entire FIMAC.

Day 2 – Sept. 17, 2014 - DMP Workshop

9:00 Welcome and review items from the previous day (Mark Brady)

 

9:10 Review DMP basics (Mark Brady)


10:00   Presentation of example DMP from super-pilot OPR (Angela Collins-Payne)

 

10:30   Break

 

10:45   DMP Breakout session

At least one division's DMP will be presented to each work group.  The presenter will then describe issues and questions that arose during development.  The goal of the work group will be to help resolve any problems encountered and make suggestions for the various sections of an example DMP.
