Individual Station (Point)
A single latitude and longitude.
In this mode, NAUPLIUS will extract corresponding satellite and product data from the 1/2-degree longitude-latitude grid box (~50x50 km, latitude-dependent) that corresponds to the single point that you selected. If that point falls on/near a grid boundary, results from the two adjacent grid boxes may be returned.

Multi-Station Transect (Line)
A transect or line of stations.
In this mode, NAUPLIUS will extract corresponding satellite and product data from all of 1/2-degree longitude-latitude grid boxes the correspond to the transect line that you have selected. In essence, each "point" of the transect is extracted and averaged together.

Survey Area (Box)
A geographic box of multiple stations.
In this mode, NAUPLIUS will extract corresponding satellite and product data from the geographic box area that you have selected. The minimum resolution of this box is 1/2-degree of longitude-latitude in either direction.

Remember, NAUPLIUS is using open-ocean satellite and data products to generate these time series for you. These are not in-situ data.
- Shallow, near-shore areas may have typical satellite turbidity issues. These especially may affect data and products based on ocean color algorithms.
- If you select an in-land region (like an estuary or inlet or river), the returned results actually represent the conditions of the oceanic waters adjacent to that in-land area, not the estuary/inlet/river itself.

If your in-land/on-land selection does not contain any ocean waters at all, nothing will be extracted and the toolkit may likely give you a "no-data/empty-data" error.
In this case, expand or move your area-selection to include more ocean. Again, however, any extracted results will represent the ocean region including in the area you have selected, not the actual in-land area/estuary/inlet/river itself.
