SAMPLING METADATA

Sampling and Processing Summary
Zooplankton "settled volume" was estimated for the sample after settling for 15 minutes in a graduated cylinder.   Where a sample exceed 5 ml settled volume it was split by means of a Fulsom plankton splitter.   The displacement volume was then determined on a fraction of the sample (Tranter, 1960).

All samples were preserved by the addition of 40% formaldehdye buffered with hexamine, which formed a 5% formalin solution with the sample.
