Expenditure Surveys

Until 2006, we used the Marine Recreational Fisheries Statistical Survey (MRFSS) intercept survey and random digit dial (RDD) telephone survey to contact anglers. Beginning in 2006 we began using license frames to be able to include states where the MRFSS is not conducted. For the intercept survey, we collect limited data in the field as an add-on survey and use follow-up surveys, via the telephone or via mail to collect more detailed expenditure information. We have also used add-on’s to the RDD survey to collect information as well. Click on the link to see the survey instruments.
