Capacity Building

Capacity building activities, provide technical assistance to developing countries, enable NMFS scientists to positively influence the sustainable management of living marine resources.  In many cases, the U.S. can benefit from improvements in science that lead to more effective management of resources in other countries.  This directly applies to transboundary fish, protected species, and seafood that are ultimately imported by the U.S.  Capacity building activities also promote political goodwill and provide unique development experiences for U.S. scientists.
