The Global Map of Fisheries Observer & Monitoring Programs project was initiated during the 2007 IFOMC in Victoria, British Columbia. During the 2007 conference, participants drew the spatial extent of their observer programs on a paper map. The information contained in the paper map was later digitized, and additional information on other programs was added following the 2009 IFOMC in Portland, Maine. The map was converted from a GIS file into a Google Earth map for ease of downloading and viewing, and is now available at this site.
Requirements: You will need the free program Google Earth to view this file. Google Earth can be downloaded from: http://www.google.com/earth/index.html
The map is a work in progress. Additions and corrections are encouraged! Information on adding or editing programs is contained in two help files.
Alternatively, you can contact NOAA Fisheries (Samantha.Brooke@noaa.gov) for assistance.
