Mission and Goals

Mission
Support NMFS’ mission to conserve and manage coastal and marine living resources and ecosystems through compiling and disseminating NMFS survey information and sharing it with fisheries managers, researchers and the public.

Goals

• Provide complete characterization of NMFS survey capabilities and capacity;
• Enable gap analysis of surveys and stock assessments;
• Streamline the survey planning and execution process;
• Enable quick and accurate response to survey-related planning/budget scenarios and data calls;
• Engage and foster collaboration across regions in documenting and analyzing survey requests through web services;

Promote integration with other public web interfaces, such as Data.gov, to share NMFS survey information with the public in a more cost-effective way.
