Chesapeake Bay Associated Investigators: Related Web Sites: Related Time Series: Mesosooplankton monitoring data were collected from over thirty sites in the Chesapeake Bay and its tidal tributaries on a monthly or bimonthly basis, between 1985 and 2002, as part of the Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) monitoring program. This summary features two of the centrally-located (middle Bay) sites (Figure 1): CB5.2 (located in the upper "Maryland" region of the Bay), and "CB6.1" (located in the lower "Virginia" region of the Bay). In the the Maryland program, zooplankton were collected with a 202 µm mesh bongo net via stepped-oblique tows from 1/2 meter above the bottom to the surface. In the Virginia program, zooplankton were collected with a 202 µm mesh bongo via double-oblique tows from bottom to surface. Abundance and weight methods were different between states, but consistent within individual sites. |
