Chilean Coast Associated Investigators: Related Web Sites: Related Time Series: In August of 2002, the central/southern region of Chile, the COPAS oceanographic center initiated a time series study at Station 18 on the continental shelf (ca. 90 m depth) of Concepción. Zooplankton are sampled on a nearly monthly basis using a 1 m2 Tucker Trawl equipped with 200 µm mesh nets. The net has a calibrated flowmeter to estaimate the volume sampled. Oblique tows are made from 80 m to the surface, between 12 pm and 4pm (daylight hours). The net collects integrated samples from 0-80 m and also stratified samples from 80-50 m and 50-0 m.
